There is a sense of overwhelming at the beginning of the year- yes, it is full of possibilities, but for me, the multitude of paths, avenues, and choices unmade and the future extending broadly in front, which makes me hesitate momentarily. I skim my dreams and hopes for 2022; what can I latch onto?

This year I am stepping into the beyond, into a place of mystery. I anticipate the difficulty, yet I fear my preparation is lacking. In my fanciful moments, I imagine myself wielding my sword, swathing through the crowd of demons able to pinpoint the exact moment I must strike, pivot and lunge. In reality, I sit in the stillness, wondering. There are moments when feeling the fear begin to rumble and the nasty troll who lives in my head – call out… “who are you to attempt a doctorate” that I question myself. But then I am strengthened, I respond… who am I not to? If not me, then who?

We are at the precipice; the year stretches before us, there are multitudes of opportunities, moments of joy and sadness to come, face up toward the sun, my friends. We are in this together – we the ones who travel together on this planet – find your people, forge your strength and push back those trolls. Who are we? We are those who dream., we are those who plan, and we are those who enter into the beyond; we welcome the magic and the mystery! Bring it on.
